Kevin Sheehan is the CTO of the Americas and Vice President of Strategic Sales & Market Development at Ciena. In this role, Kevin and his team focus on driving overall solutions to Ciena’s existing and potential customers in the Americas.  These solutions often include software automation platforms and professional services, products from Ciena’s Optical, Ethernet and IP product families and custom software and strategic services. The team continuously strives to deliver an overall solution-based outcome to the customer’s most important business problems.

Kevin has over 25 years of award-winning experience leading high-performance cross-functional teams and building successful product lines and early stage companies. Previously, Kevin served as Vice President of Global Solutions for Ciena’s Blue Planet division, and was responsible for solution and commercial design activities and sales for Ciena’s Blue Planet software. He has also held the position of Vice President of Product Line Management for packet networking solutions at Ciena. Before joining Ciena, Kevin was CEO of Hatteras Networks and held senior leadership positions with Alcatel, Packet Engines, and SMC.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a Master of Science degree from Stony Brook University, New York, and a master of business administration from Dowling College in Oakdale, New York. In addition to Kevin’s academic achievements, his business efforts were globally recognized by winning American Business Awards “Stevie Award” as Best Telecommunications CEO in 2008 and the “Leading Lights CEO of the Year Award in 2006”.
